Exposure to particulate matter (PM2.5) has emerged as a significant risk factor for depression, particularly among pregnant women. This systematic review and meta-analysis investigates the association between PM2.5 exposure and maternal depression during pregnancy, yielding a pooled relative risk of 1.29 (95% CI: 1.10–1.50) per 10 μg/m3 increase in PM2.5.

Particulate Matter, Health Concerns and Community Perceptions of Sawmill Pollution in Ilorin West LGA, Kwara State, Nigeria

A convergent parallel mixed-methods study combining air quality monitoring and community surveys in Ilorin West LGA found PM2.5 and PM10 levels exceeding WHO 24-hour guidelines by 6–10 times across all five sawmill sites, with 76.3% of residents reporting persistent cough and 95.5% supporting sawmill relocation.
